Castle Cove
Next to St Mawes Castle, Castle Cove is a sloping sand bottom following a rocky outcrop with a kelp forest. The sandy bottom has patches of Eel Grass which are abundant with life. This dive site is perfect for beginners and advanced divers a like.
With shallow depths extending to deep channels. The eel grass beds are nursery grounds for many different species. From baby fish, nudibranchs, baby rays and baby cat sharks. It is also home to Falmouth’s famous Mearl Beds!
Parking is located right next to the dive site in the English Heritage St Mawes Castle grass car park. There is usually lots of parking available and then its a gentle walk down to Castle Cove beach for the dive site entry.
There can be some current at this dive site as the river is very tidal and the effects of low / high tide can be felt.
